IT'S OVER! Nov 15, 00:35
LAX 1515 Monday
The eighth and final stop is behind us. Another great evening. Another good turnout last night at San Diego YC, including lots of old friends from the Cup and the years we lived there for the '88, '92 and '95 Cups.
Good to have Peter "Pedro" Isler and John "Z" Ziskind joining us for their first appearances. Z has family in SD and is looking to buy a home there eventually. Pedro is a real pro, on the water and off. With little prep time, he gave a very interesting and entertaining presentation.
Peter, Gary Jobson and and I have known each other now for -- yikes -- some 30+ years, having sailed against each other in college. In all those years it was the first time we have been together in such a presentation, and it was good fun.
Eric Doyle, who had been racing in a Star Regatta in SD over the weekend snuck into the back of the room -- maintaining a low profile succeeded in keeping us from dragging him into the presentation as well. Eric and Sheila now live up the coast a bit (Orange County), but he is a popular local figure having previously lived in SD and adding his name to the list of many "San Diegans" who have won the Star Class Worlds.
Will blog some wrap up thoughts on the past three weeks when there is time. Also have some great pix to post from being in Anacortes, WA last week with Mark Turner's BMWOR boat construction team at "Core Builders." Impressive set up, and a nice group of people working with Mark. More on that later this week.
They've just called the flight, so will have to post the SD pix after arriving on the other side of the pond.
